Remember Logical Progression ? Good Looking Records / Creative Source / Dee Jay Recordings ? Sets in the mid to late nineties by people like LTJ Bukem / Fabio and Blame ? Well, if you do and you like the kind of ambient, melodic and sometimes jazz inspired Drum & Bass associated with those releases, labels and DJ’s then hour 1 of this show will be right up your street ! I was (and still am) a huge fan of this style and after Paddy’s Day thought it was the perfect time to dig out some soothing sounds!

Pretty much everything featured in the show was released between 1995 and 1997 but I think it’s music that has aged well. Some of the best known producers in the style are featured here – Blame, LTJ Bukem, Photek, Jonny L, Hidden Agenda, Wax Doctor, Lemon D + a few of the lesser known one’s like Parallax, Artemis and Fokus. There were many others we could have featured (Source Direct, Alex Reece and PFM to name but a few) but still you’ll get the idea.

Into hour 2 and with Boxcutter due to appear in my hometown of Limerick this coming Friday (at the Boatclub, Sarsfield Bridge on March 26th) I thought it would be only right to feature some of his beats. “Glyphic” and “Philly” are two of my favourite tracks of his, both featured here. Also on the bill on March 26th will be local producer/Dj Bee aka K3Bee. “Memory Echo” is one of the best things he has done in my opinion and any track that works between producers like Untold and 2562 has to have something! On the new release front we feature more material from the recent “Amyl” EP on the Hed:Remote label and also more from the brillant “Metafiction” Album by DFRNT. Dipping into nineties techno at the end, I took something from Move D’s classic “Kunststoff” album, released in 1995 and re-released in 2006 on City Centre Offices. “In / Out” is probably my favourite track on it – check the last tune here.
